About Livingston
Livingston, NJ - Population 27,000, Livingston is just far enough from Manhattan to be called a real suburb. Named one of Money Magazine’s Best 100 Places to Live in 2007, Livingston has one of the top ranked public schools in the state and regularly farms student winners of national competitions such as the Intel Science Talent Search and Siemens Award. It’s also home to two top private schools, Newark Academy and the Joseph Kushner Hebrew Academy/Rae Kushner Yeshiva High School. The New Jersey Ballet makes its home in Livingston, as do many fine artists. Named for William Livingston, a framer of the Constitution and a 13-term governor of the state, Livingston was incorporated in 1813, making it one of the oldest towns in Essex County, NJ. Located 21 miles from Manhattan, City-bound commuters either drive to the Park& Ride facility in neighboring West Orange or the PATH train station in nearby Harrison, NJ – or take the bus. Famous former residents include comic Chelsea Handler, Broadway actress Leslie Kritzer and producer Rob Fusari, who works with Lady Gaga. Check out www.livingstonnj.org.
